After the excitement of the US Open, WTA players get back out on the road to Japan and Canada, while Great Britain play Uzbekistan in the Davis Cup at the weekend.


WTA International, BT Sport

The Hana-cupid Japan Women’s Open has moved to a new site this year, while its old home in Tokyo is prepared for the 2020 Olympics.

Last year’s champion Zarina Diyas is back, and the top seed is Zhang Shuai. Britain’s Harriet Dart played qualifying and lost in the final round, but will team up with Priscilla Hon in the doubles draw.

WTA International

Heather Watson and Naomi Broady both just squeezed into the main draw of the Coupe Banque Nationale in Quebec City.

Sadly for British fans there is no television coverage of this event, and it’s not on WTA TV either as local broadcaster TVA have production rights.

Davis Cup

World Group play-off, BBC

Jamie Murray and Dom Inglot are the doubles nominations for Great Britain’s Davis Cup tie.

The British team to face Uzbekistan has been announced as Cam Norrie, Jay Clarke, Dan Evans, Jamie Murray and Dom Inglot.

With the changes to the Davis Cup format next year, this tie in Glasgow is being played for ranking points only.
