Week 5 (w/c 28 Jan): St Petersburg, Hua Hin, Davis Cup

There are two WTA tour events this week, and it’s the qualifying round of the new format Davis Cup.

St Petersburg

WTA Premier, BT Sport

The St. Petersburg Trophy is in its tenth year.

The St Petersburg Ladies Trophy takes place on indoor hard courts. Australian Open runner up Petra Kvitova is the top seed and defending champion. Katie Boulter is hoping to qualify.

Hua Hin

WTA International, BT Sport

The Thailand Open becomes part of the WTA Tour for the first time, having previously been an WTA 125K event in 2015 and 2017. It replaces Taipei in the calendar.

Davis Cup

The qualifying round for the World Group takes place over Friday and Saturday, 1-2 February.

Great Britain have a wildcard into the finals in November so don’t play a tie this week.

At each tie there are two singles matches on the Friday, and on Saturday there will be a doubles match and then two reverse singles matches.

The ties are available to watch on daviscup.com from €4.99 for an indivudual tie or €7.99 for the whole round.
